Scared of Obama? Oh, Hell Yes, I Am!!!!

13 08 2008

I originally posted this article 2 days ago on the 13th of August.  A liberal friend of mine asked me if I had checked the data before posting it.  I had to admit to him that I had not.  I went to “Snopes.com” and put in Obama/McCain/Taxes.  The first entry that appeared is the same that I posted without checking it first.  My apologies to all my liberal friends, enemies and those who have yet to declare an alleigience.  I got caught with my proverbial “britches down.”  An increasingly unattractive mental picture, the older I get.  I am a conservative.  I dare say I will always be a conservative, but, not at the expense of my integrity.  According to Snopes (I have no reason to disbelieve them) the following article is without merit.  Shame on me for “leaping before I looked.”

“INTERESTING DATA JUST RECEIVED ON TAXES

This is something you should be

aware of so you don’t get blind-sided.
This is really going to catch a lot

of families off guard. It should
make you worry.Proposed changes in taxes after 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000

per home (couples) McCain does not
propose any change in existing

home sales income tax.OBAMA

28% on profit from ALL home salesHow does this affect you?

If you sell your home and make a profit, you
will pay 28% of your gain on taxes.

If you are heading toward retirement
and would like to down-size your

home or move into a retirement
community, 28% of the money you

make from your home will go to taxes. This
proposal will adversely affect the

elderly who are counting on the income
from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX MCCAIN 15% ( no change)

 OBAMA 39.6%

How will this affect you?

If you have any money invested in stock
market, IRA, mutual funds,

college funds, life insurance, retirement
accounts, or anything that pays

or reinvests dividends, you will now
be paying nearly 4 0% of the money

earned on taxes if Obama become president.

The experts predict that ‘higher

tax rates on dividends and capital gains

would crash the stock market yet
do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.INCOME TAX

Mr. Ape,
I see you cut and pasted this from another email but have you fact checked this email? Or did you just take this email as truth without researching it? Where did these numbers come from? You stated yourself that you would be hard pressed to hear Obama state what exactly he is going to do when he becomes president yet these numbers are pretty exact.
I, unlike you, believe it shows just how realistic Obama is. He can not guarantee anything because he knows that it takes all portions of government to work together for anything to happen. He could have all the best ideas in the world but unless Congress backs the ideas than the plans go nowhere. He gives you probabilities.
I have listened to him speak in Las Vegas and I have listened to him answer questions from the audience and he explains this. He answers what could (or what he would like to) happen but he also explains that for this to happen this, this, and this need to happen. He is not full of hot air and not out blowing smoke up constituents asses.
Isn’t there something to be said for a person who is realistic (like you) and keeps things in perspective? He has visions of a better America, and better international relations. I know that you do not care what any other country thinks of us but whether or not you want to accept it or not we need help from other countries and we need to get along with other countries. We need international trade, we need international goods, but I do agree we need to start drilling here in the US, but most importantly, we need to build refineries here in the US. My uncle works on the pipeline in Alaska and he says it is so disheartening to know the oil that comes out is going straight to Japan to be refined. That means we are paying import and export tax on our own oil. Now that is ridiculous.
Mr. Ape, I am open to ideas, you know that, you responded to my blog, and if you go back to it and re-read the post that you posted to, it was me asking everyone to not just forward emails that they get from others without fact checking them. If the “so called facts” are not true, I feel it is your duty to rebut these emails and make others aware of the lies.
I, like everyone else with an email address, get ass loads of emails of slamming one candidate or the other (90% are from republicans preaching god, patriotism, and spreading lies about Obama). Why is the percentage of hate mail aimed at democrats? Why are republicans so dead set on keeping our country divided and watch out if you do not believe in the same Christian beliefs as these far right republicans. What percentage of the “bible beating patriotic email forwarders” have ever served in the armed forces? Have ever set foot on foreign soil or tried to understand another religion? Aren’t you just as bad as Muslim extremists if you are forcing your religious beliefs onto others?
I am all ears buddy, let’s open up the lines of communication…
Your liberal buddy, Justin.

Mr. Ape,
I was just looking at the paper and thought maybe this may shed some light on these taxation hikes and his policy changes, you see coming if Obama wins.
This is from Obama’s website:
1. Energy: Obama has proposed investing 150 million over the next 10 years to develop the next generation of biofuels and infrastructure, investment hybrids and convert to a digital electrical grid. He also proposed a green technology fund of 10 billion annual investment.
2. Health care: Obama;s health care plan would allow small firms to buy into the low-cost plans similar to those offered to members of Congress!!
3. Small business taxes: (pay attention here) Obama promises to reduce the DOUBLE TAXATION burden on small businesses, which pay both the payroll and self-employment tax. (enacted in 2003 under President Bush)
He also pledges to ELIMINATE ALL CAPITAL GAINS TAXES on small business start-ups to encourage job innovation and growth.
Does this change your view any? This is just the tip of the iceberg but if you take the time, most of the stuff spread through email is not true.
Also, as I mentioned in my blog, I am in an interracial marriage and I found it very disheartening to hear a war hero and presidential candidate say about the first presidential candidate with a legitimate shot at the presidency, “he does not look like all those presidents on the dollar bills.” (Side note, Benjamin Franklin was not a president)
There have been criticisms of Obama that he is against off-shore drilling but he said publicly that he would support the bipartisan bill that included off-shore drilling if it is a genuine compromise because you have to accept some things you don’t like in order to get ENERGY INDEPENDENCE.
Always look forward to your thoughts,
Justin

Mr. Ape,
No one doubt your integrity. Interested to see your thoughts on my proverbial roast of Mr. McCain. It’s my turn to take a shot, love to hear your thoughts because what I researched was interesting. I did not know the far right had a distaste for McCain.

Tim

Is there any truth to him being the son of a Muslim fundamentalist, and/or attending a radical Muslim school in Indonesia as a school in Indonesia? What are his connections with William Ayers who tried to bomb the Capital Building? Why was he a member of a church where the the Reverand preaches “God Damn America”? Why wouldn’t he put his hand over his heart during the pledge? I heard that the terrorists have vowed to take over America from the inside. What are his true motives? I have enough doubt about him that I would be scared for him to have the security clearance that the president has. If he is not who he portends to be, we will have given the enemy everything. I am more comfortable with McCain because at least I know that he loves this country. National security is a big concern for me.
